1.7 Survival World turns 4!!

Hello my friends!

Time has passed and another anniversary has arrived, that being the 4th year of the 1.7 Survival World. Much has happened from last year's annversary.

During the cold winter months while we gathered by the warmth of the fire Bavu Claus appeared out of nowhere to bring out a Christmas surprise! As the months flew by, ICers began to get involved in more and more contests and events on and away from the server, including some Cards Against Humanity games ;) .

Winter gave way to Spring, and thus Iciclecraft turned 6 years old, surely ranking among the oldest continuing servers of its kind. And while the server had any quiet nights, they were always full of a little devil swinging his pickaxe furiously in order to carve out his 600m wide hole. Spearheaded by @Master777Shadow , a charity was established to help the little pyromaniac gather required materials, tools (and maybe forced labor here and there ;) ). In total the charity reached well over 500,000 G!! and an Iron rank. Shortly thereafter as Summer began to arrive in full swing, we were given the brand new 1.12 update. With it more possibilities of color and building materials were added. The resource world was also reset with an interesting seed that created incredible tunnels and mine shafts!

However despite all of this there were some sad moments. Our long-time admin Kate announced her leave of absence from the team for an unspecified amount of time. Yet we were also given a new Moderator from the Denmark of the Americas (Canada if you couldn't guess). And finally currently ongoing is a Shipbuilding contest hosted by @Animated_Dragon !

Indeed my friends, 4 years is quite a long time. and in fact this is our oldest continuously active world to date. While not as young and full of life as it once was, the 1.7 World still holds intrinsic value by the imprints left from the community over the course of its life, with countless adventures and stories tucked away under the land. That being said, the game and the community have changed itself within the last four years, adding and losing members along the way. Thankfully due to the Discord server (and especially with our latest ingame chat feature), the server has retained a sense of "staying alive" where it otherwise would not have.

Finally before I end this, I would like to leave you all in thought. After so long, it is worth mentioning that we are all several years older from when we began this journey with Iciclecraft. Time has brought with it many joys and miseries, nothing that we can control. There may come a day soon where you move on from this server, or Minecraft leaves a distaste and you find a better game/hobby. You might settle down for a new family or job, end up moving and beginning the life that you seek. The server might even one day shut down. Even nowadays, I find myself unable to join the server as often as I once did (probably for the best as Guppy would say if he pulled out that hours chart ;) ). But at the end of the day, if we all remain friends and are able to keep in touch, that is the true miracle and nothing would make me and hopefully all of you happier. Don't let anything hold you back, and don't ever think that you must remain out of obligation, for that will only stall your purpose in life and leave you unhappy. The world won't hand you what you desire on a silver platter, jump at the opportunity and snatch it from her hands. I wish all of you the best, and I believe that the community will continue to thrive in its own right, in game or not. Gather your wits and courage, your friends have your back: adventure awaits my friends, go get it! ;)

This server was a place for me to go to escape the outside pressures of everyday life. Through my interactions with the many friends I have made here, I have improved my social skills and my overall confidence when approaching situations. I could not be more thankful to have had this server in my life, and I could not be more thankful to have made so many wonderful friends. I wish this server prosperity for many more years to come, but even so, Astro does make a very good, and true, point: We are a community of people who have similar interests, who have a bond that spans for many years, and a server shutting down will not destroy that bond. I hope everyone has a great holiday season! :)
